Get Ready for Bed with an Easy Skincare Regimen

Moms want to crawl to their beds after a busy day. Who wants to hit the bathroom before they hit the sheets? For healthy looking skin, you want to. But, getting ready for bed doesn't have to be a chore with these easy to follow tips.

Throughout the day, your skin is faced with many different situations. You have the dirt and dust from everyday life clinging to you. Sweat, tears, kisses and other things touch your face.

The evidence may not be readily visible to the naked eye, but it is there. Not washing your face, means a big job to wake up to in the morning. Besides, who wants to go to sleep with a shell of daily grime covering their face?

1. Apply a makeup remover. Using a cotton ball, sweep across your face to remove all traces of makeup. Even mineral makeup should be removed so that you don't have a buildup on your skin.

2. Use a facial mask. A mask acts as an astringent to pull the dirt from your pores. It prevents blackhead from forming in the first place. A night mask can be applied first while you go about other nighttime activities like brushing your teeth.

3. Brush your hair. Hair gets tangled during the day. A nightly brushing removes those kinks and also stimulates the hair follicles. Start at the root (scalp) and brush to the ends. Shed hair is removed in the brush and your head gets a soothing massage. If your arms are tired, ask one of your kids to brush your hair. They love stuff like that especially the girls.

4. Apply a night cream to your face. Night cream moisturizes and protects your face during the night. Rubbing your cheeks on the pillow as you sleep can irritate your skin and lead to dryness if you don't apply any type of moisturizer after cleansing.

5. Apply a thin film of petroleum jelly to your lips, hands and feet. Hands and feet get dry at night especially Ii you take a shower before bed. If you put on socks after applying the petroleum jelly, the skin on your feet will soften which is quite important for hard working feet. It is like a mini spa treatment. Moisturizing your hands is just as important to prevent wrinkles and cracking. The same goes for lips. They stay moist throughout the night when a layer of protection is applied.

Maybe you want to just hit the sheets but you'll feel better as you lay your head down if you observe a bedtime beauty regimen. Once you get used to it, you'll see that it really takes no time at all to get ready for a night of unbroken rest for you and your skin.

Acne Cures: Is there a Natural Acne Cure that Works?

Are there natural acne cures that work? or is it a new age myth? Is there a permanent cure for acne or are all acne sufferers sentenced to the Sisyphean battle of tackling the ‘on the surface' symptoms? Is there an honest, natural and safer alternative to the endless use of over the counters and to the nasty side effects inflicted by conventional drugs, creams and topical acne treatments?

Most dermatologists and other western medicine followers have already answered that controversial question by claiming that acne, among other diseases simply cannot be cured.

There are 2 reasons for that:

1. Most dermatologists don't even know what the real cause of acne is. It's amazing but true. They are highly familiar with the symptoms of acne and they specialize in tackling the 'on the surface' symptoms, but unfortunately they cannot tell you what the internal conditions are that cause your acne to form in the first place. If you don't believe me just ask your dermatologist.

2. Most doctors work in conjunction with the pharmaceutical and drug companies and the latter is not motivated, so to speak, at discovering a cure for Acne or Aids or Cancer - simply because hundreds of millions of dollars have been spent on finding treatments for the symptoms of diseases. Why? simply because their global aim is to make more profit by creating consumer dependency. By applying medications and creams that deal merely with the symptoms while ignoring the source or the internal cause of the disease, acne will never be cured. The average acne sufferer will become more and more reliant on drugs that temporarily calm the symptoms and that means steady income for the drug and pharmaceutical companies.

There's a lovely metaphor describing acne among other chronic diseases and the way modern medicine deals with these afflictions: If you manage to kill all the mosquitoes around a stale pond using chemicals, for a little while there will be no mosquitoes.

But since the source of the problem (what causes the mosquitoes to appear) is still there – the stale, disgusting pond where mosquitoes can find food and fertile ground for laying their eggs – mosquitoes will always come back!

The same thing happens with your acne!

Without eliminating the source of your acne condition, you will never get rid of your acne. Without fixing the internal problem that is causing your acne, you may find temporary relief, but your acne will always come back until you do something fundamental to eradicate the cause from within...until you make the pond (your body or internal system) a place where ‘mosquitoes' cannot exist.

Ultimately, every disease results from a breakdown within your body. All major diseases and chronic conditions are warning signs of something very fundamentally wrong inside. Deepak Chopra refers to this as "The violation of simple laws of nature that make our body function."

The very surprising truth is that you are lucky for having acne. Let me explain...Acne, like constant headaches, irritable bowel syndrome or dandruffs is only a small message from your body that something is wrong internally and should be addressed and corrected.

Now, there are two choices you can make - you can:

1. Ignore that message - big mistake! The internal imbalance that caused your acne will, in most cases, turn into a chronic condition. Now instead of just having acne you'll start having other hormonal imbalance or toxic overload related symptoms in addition to acne. Because the internal problem is not fixed, the disease symptoms get more and more intense.

2. Listen to your body and start fixing the internal problem that causes your acne to appear in the first place; you will not only get rid of your acne you will also achieve beautiful, healthy, even toned clear skin complexion, re-balance your body and prevent future hormonal or toxic overload related conditions.

The simple truth is...you are out of balance. We now live a 'far-from-natural' lifestyle. There are over 300 synthetic industrial chemicals present in our bodies that did not exist 50 years ago. We are filled with toxins from the food, and medication we ingest and use.

By fixing the internal condition that causes your acne in addition to adopting a healthy lifestyle (healthy diet & mindset, cleanse & detoxify, hormonal balancing etc.) you will put your body back into balance – holistically - your acne will cease to exist and you feel as healthy and attractive as ever!

Missing Putts on the ‘Pro Side'

Accurate putting is what wins games. Unfortunately many club golfers miss putts on the low side of the hole unlike pro golfers who miss on the high side, which is also known as the ‘Pro Side'. To putt accurately, a golfer must know how the putt breaks both on speed and rotation. Here is a drill which teaches you to combine the right speed and direction for accurate putting.

The face and the facial skin is the first thing that people see. So when we leave our homes you want to present a clean, clear, beautiful looking face. The facial skin unlike other areas of skin on our body is always exposed to the environment and therefore is easily damaged through sun exposure, chemicals, toxins and pollutants. Taking care of our facial skin is very important not only to stay beautiful but also to avoid increased signs of aging, blemishes, or acne.

Types of Skin

There are five basic skin types. They are

1.    Normal skin

2.    Dry skin

3.    Oily skin

4.    Combination skin

5.    Sensitive skin

Skin Care

Oily skin is shiny, thick and dull colored. Often a chronically oily skin has coarse pores and pimples and other embarrassing blemishes. It is prone to blackheads. In this type of skin, the oil producing sebaceous glands are overactive and produce more oil than is needed. The oil oozes and gives the skin a greasy shine. The pores are enlarged and the skin has a coarse look.

Oily Skin Care Tips

If your skin is extremely oily, three or four daily cleansings may be in order and little or no moisturizing necessary before you are 30 years old. After that point, the skin around your eyes and mouth and on your throat may benefit from a nightly moisturizing, plus a mere touch of moisturizer in the morning.

When cleansing, massage your face well with your fingertips, using an upward and outward motion. Be careful not to rub soap into the skin; it can clog pores.

If your oily skin is scaly, you can often correct the problem by using a deep-cleaning exfoliant on alternate nights, and following the treatment with a light coating of moisturizer.

Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-colored clays.

Use a light antiseptic night cream from time to time if you wish, and apply a clarifying mask one or two times a week.

Choose cosmetic and facial care products specifically designed for oily skin.

Before applying makeup, use an antiseptic day cream with active ingredients that diminish sebaceous secretions. Look for benzyl peroxide in the list of active ingredients.

Diet for Oily Skin

Take a diet rich in proteins but restricted in sugar, fluids and salt.

Take plenty of leafy green vegetables and fresh fruits.

Have your blood brought up to par by the suitable administration of necessary vitamins, iron and similar substances.

Even a slight deficiency in vitamin B2 can cause oily skin. Nutritional yeast, wheat germ and organ meats provide both vitamin B5 and vitamin B2. Other good sources of vitamin B2 are whole grains, beans, nuts, and royal jelly. Buckwheat, black beans and whole rice are excellent to supply the body with iron and rejuvenate pate skin.

Drink plenty of quality water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins.

Dry skin

Dry skin has a dry parched appearance and has a tendency to flake easily. It is prone to wrinkles and lines. This is due to the inability to retain moisture as well as the insufficient production of sebum by  the sebaceous glands. Dry skin often has problems in cold weather and ages faster than normal or oily skin. Constant protection is very important. It needs a moisturiser during the day and a good cream at night.

Dry Skin Care Tips

1.    Massage the face with almond oil or olive oil every night before going to bed.

2.    Massaging the skin with grapeseed oil. In severe cases of dry skin castor oil or avocado oil is highly beneficial.

3.    Prepare a fine mixture by adding 1 egg yolk, 1 teaspoon of orange juice,1 teaspoon of olive oil, few drops of rose water and some drops of lime juice.

4.    Apply this well prepared mixture on the face in the morning 15 minutes before taking bath.

5.    Mash a ripe banana and apply it on the face and neck. Leave it for sometime and then wash the face with lukewarm water.

Acne In Teens - 7 Ways To Control It

Acne commonly starts in the early teen years, when the oil glands in the body start making more sebum (oil). That, combined with dirt, can clog the pores and lead to breakouts. 1. Vitamin C is a natural immune booster and it can help to reduce the inflammation of blemishes. Foods that contain vitamin C include oranges, potatoes, broccoli, and kiwi. Vitamin E is a natural antioxidant that helps with healing. Foods that contain vitamin E include almonds, sunflower seeds, spinach, broccoli, soybeans, and peanut butter. You can get more of these vitamins by eating foods that contain them or in a supplement.

2. Over-the-counter acne products can help treat your acne. Benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid are the most common and most effective over-the-counter medicines for acne. These medicines kill bacteria, dry up the oil and make your skin peel off. They are available in many forms, such as gels, lotions, creams, soaps or pads.

3. Get soap for yourself that is mild for sensitive skin. There are some soaps that are made to fight acne. The important thing is to stop using harsh soaps. They will only serve to be abrasive to the teen acne condition.

4. Keep hands away from your face. It's so tempting to squeeze or pick the pimple away, but this only serves to make the problem worse by driving the bacteria further into the skin. This will lead to permanent scarring, so resisting that urge can go a long way to getting skin clear. This is one of the best natural acne treatment.

5. Lavender essential oil is another good spot treatment. Use it the same way as you would the tea tree oil. This essential oil has also been shown to calm the nerves and help people sleep, so this might be a good treatment to use at night.

6. When washing your face make sure you aren't making the mistake of scrubbing too hard or washing too often. This will only make your skin produce even more oil, which just makes your acne worse.

7. Choose facial products without oils. Makeup, lotions and sunblock need to be oil free and non-comedogenic so they don't worsen the acne.
