Soap For Eczema: How To Make A Remedy At Home With Natural Ingredients
Soaps for Eczema generally have little or no additives in them. The ph of the soap should be neutral, or slightly acidic (generally not a thing that soaps are, because they are made by making lye and lye is alkaline). Your skin is supposed to be slightly acidic, though. So, search for a soap that advertises that it has a neutral ph they're out there. It isn't healthy for your skin to constantly wash with alkaline soaps.
You can even make your own eczema soap. First, what is eczema? It's a skin condition which can make the skin red, itchy, or even be a bleeding wound. It always is associated with some sort of inflammation, though. There might be an accompanying mild burning sensation and some scientists believe it's related to allergic reactions. Those allergic reactions may be acting external to your body, or they might be something that's coming from inside, particularly in your colon. It's funny how the state of how healthy your colon is can have something to do with the outside of your skin; but conditions in your colon can definitely effect eczema on your skin.
Since what causes some forms eczema are allergic reaction, then, applying creams on your skin such as antifungal or antibiotic creams won't remove the underlying problem of eczema. You're generally prescribed a cream that has a steroid in it, as corticosteroids can help reduce the symptoms associated with allergic reactions. Anti-fungal creams are used for athlete's foot. Antibiotic creams are useful for bacterial skin infections.
Many soaps that you purchase have harsh chemicals in them, which can lead to rashes, allergic reactions and eczema. Also, those chemicals remove the necessary oils that help protect our skin, keeping it supple. This makes our skin more prone to infections and irritation. Most medical practitioners are smart enough to realize that soap is one of the things that might be causing your eczema.
There are some herbal remedies that can be used such as neem, kutki, sandalwood, camphor, papaya seeds, muskmelon or kutki. Homemade eczema soaps are similar to bar soaps which you can find in craft stores. It is often the enhancers and additives that are responsible for its anti-eczema property. In fact, there are a wide variety of eczema soap recipes which can be found online. They vary slightly in terms of formulation, but a typical recipe goes something like this:
Start with what is called a ‘soap base'. You'll be using what is called the melt and pour method to make your soap. Melt the mixture on your burner's ‘low' setting. Add 10 drops avocado oil, 8 drops almond oil, to 5 drops jojoba oil, 5 drops of shea butter, 30 drops of coconut oil and 10 drops of palm oil to the melted mixture. Blend well, still on the low heat setting (around 100 degrees F). Remember it's also good to take flax seed oils and omega 3 internally as a way to help ease eczema symptoms.
Pour it into a soap mold, then let it cool for thirty minutes to an hour before you put them in the freezer for another hour. Warm it up to get them out of the molds, and use them. You just made soap for eczema.
